Frequently asked questions

Does this replace my billing system, or work alongside it?

Either. The full suite includes billing. If you already have billing you are happy with, licence the RADIUS and quota engine on its own and keep what you have.

Which hardware is supported?

MikroTik RouterOS 7.x, tested on RB5009, L009 and CSS326. Other RouterOS boards generally work; tell us which you run and we will confirm before you buy rather than after.

What happens when my upstream link fails?

Each uplink is health-checked along its own path, not by pinging your own gateway. On failure the platform switches carriers in under four seconds and flushes connection tracking so established sessions move with the route instead of holding a dead path until they time out.

Can staff manage subscribers without router access?

Yes, that is the point of the staff panel. Reset a quota, release a throttle, reset a MAC binding or disconnect a session via CoA — none of it requires a router login. Each action completes every step it implies, so a quota reset genuinely restores the customer rather than clearing the counter and leaving the throttle in place.

How are daily quotas handled across timezones?

Resets run on your local time, not server UTC. Unlimited plans are excluded from the quota checker rather than being silently reset by it — a common failure that wipes unlimited customers overnight.

Do I pay per subscriber?

No. Licences are tied to a subscriber tier and bought once. Growing inside your tier costs nothing. See Licensing & deployment.

What if I outgrow my tier?

You pay the one-time difference between tiers. There is no recurring uplift and no retroactive charge for the subscribers you added.

Can I move from hosted to on-premise later?

Yes. The data model is identical in both, so migration is an export and import rather than a rebuild.

How does migration from my current system work?

In parallel. Your existing system stays live while data is imported and validated against it. You cut over only once both sides agree, so a bad import never costs you a night of billing.

What is included in support?

Standard covers priority response next business day, updates, configuration changes, fault diagnosis and monthly backup verification with a tested restore. Priority adds 24/7 emergency response, direct contact rather than a queue, proactive monitoring and a quarterly network review.

Do you support GEPON or GPON?

Our own deployment experience is GEPON/EPON. GPON deployments are supported for the software side — authentication, billing, quota and failover are independent of the optical standard — but ask before assuming ONU provisioning specifics carry across.

Is content filtering easy to bypass?

Single-layer DNS filtering is trivially bypassed by changing one browser setting, while your logs continue to show it working. Culmen filters at four independent layers and closes encrypted-DNS endpoints, so defeating one layer does not defeat the system.

What happens after I buy?

You are contacted to arrange deployment. For software licences that means server preparation, installation, configuration to your plan structure and router integration. For digital downloads the files are available immediately.

Do you offer refunds?

Digital downloads are non-refundable once accessed. For software licences and services, talk to us before purchasing if you are unsure — a technical walkthrough costs nothing and is the honest way to find out whether this fits your network.
